Thank you so much for your hard work and support!
While the results of of the election are of course disappointing, I'm incredibly proud of our positive campaign for new leadership and vision on the City Council and want to ensure you know how much we appreciate the support you have given us throughout this race. You contributed in so many ways and its been an absolutely amazing journey I never could have taken without you. Whether you financially contributed, helped walk precincts, hosted lawn signs, reached out to your friends and neighbors, or assisted in other ways, your efforts resulted in helping to secure thousands of votes in support of my candidacy. Thank you so much for your hard work and support!
Though we were unsuccessful in gaining a seat on the City Council, together we ran a powerful campaign and did our very best to ensure our message of protecting the public interest got through.
I always knew this would be a challenging race. While we were certainly out funded, our campaign had the highest percentage of Petaluma based contributors – mostly residents and small businesses. That's powerful.
So many of you have already contacted me to express your appreciation for my efforts. But I couldn't and didn't do it alone. I'm so grateful to my campaign manager, Heidi Rhymes, for her incredible support. I simply could not have done this without her, and continue to be amazed by her strength, loyalty, and determination. She truly deserves far more than a thank you – I'm indebted not only for her support, but for her friendship, patience, and incredible tenacity.
I'm thankful for my wife and children, who sacrificed so many weekends and week day evenings without me – time we can never replace in support of our cause. And they did it because they too believed and supported my candidacy.
I want to also thank all who endorsed me – from organizations such as the Sonoma County Democratic Party, to North Bay Labor Council/AFL-CIO, the Sierra Club, Moms for Clean Air and more. From Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey, State Senator Mark Leno, Assemblymember Michael Allen, to Mayor David Glass, Councilmember Teresa Barrett, former Mayor Pamela Torliatt, Local Tech Broadcaster, Leo Laporte, and more. The list goes on and I'm incredibly humbled and grateful.
And then there is you. All of you. You helped carry my message and helped us to bring it front and center for the voters to choose. We laid out our vision and gave voters a choice and you helped disseminate it.
We expressed our first and foremost concern to protect the public interest, while ensuring voters were honestly informed of the challenges we face. We expressed that we can't simply build nor tax our way out of our financial challenges, and that it will take bold and proactive effort to increase occupancies in our existing office parks. We identified the opportunities for green and clean tech, and delivered a prescription to make it happen – with the support of many in the tech field. We expressed our determination to protect our environment and helped illuminate the direct relationship to growing our economy and preserving our quality of life.
We reminded voters of the importance of standing up on issues like Dutra – not just when it's poll tested ahead of an election, but at the very beginning before the votes are made and an appeal is required. And most of all, we reminded the community that the decisions we make now will impact our future and it requires careful consideration to avoid undermining the very things that make our City's brand uniquely desirable. It takes critical thinking, and a passion and commitment to do what's right, and not necessarily what's easy. It takes hard work. Reading. Thinking. Asking tough questions. And consistently reminding oneself of what is most important – our community and our quality of life that must be protected.
So when we consider the results let's keep this in mind. While we didn't gain a seat on the Council, we made our best effort to give voters a choice. And we did so with honesty, integrity, and a commitment to running a positive campaign.
It resonated with thousands of voters who heard our message and responded positively. It is now up to all of us to ensure our message continues – not just in two years, but right now.
Let's continue the dialog – this is no time for retreat. On the contrary, our fight to protect the public interest needs all of us, and our work ahead has only just begun.
Working together, WE WILL make a difference to ensure a sustainable future for Petaluma!
Thank you!

Former Candidate, Petaluma City Council
Election Results:
I would like to congratulate Mike Healy, Gabe Kearney, and Kathy Miller on their victories last night, as well as Tiffany Renee and Alicia Kae-Herries for their solid efforts.
Running for City Council is truly an amazing experience and I'm proud to have participated in the process. I want to also thank Tiffany Renee for her service to Petaluma and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.
Further, I want to express my sincerest thanks to my family, my campaign manager Heidi Rhymes, and all my supporters for their incredible contributions and assistance in reaching the voters.
We ran a strong and positive campaign that was truly a grassroots effort, with a large majority of our contributions from Petaluma residents and small businesses and for that we should all be proud. While the outcome is of course disappointing, I'm pleased to have met so many incredible members of our community in the process. I wish the new Council the best of luck in moving forward.
In the months ahead, I look forward to spending more time with family and growing my new company, while continuing to serve as Chair of the Technology Advisory Committee, on the Board of Directors for Petaluma Community Access, and as a member of Friends of Shollenberger Park. Regardless of whether I run again in the future, I will certainly continue to do my best to help protect the public interest and ensure a sustainable future for Petaluma. Thank you!

BREAKING NEWS: Sept. 18th, 2012 –
Sonoma County Democratic Central Committee Endorses Jason Davies!
I'm honored to have just earned the endorsement from the Sonoma County Democratic Central Committee and Democratic Party! As a lifelong Democrat, I'm proud to again have their support in my race for Petaluma City Council. Should I be honored to serve, I will work hard to move Petaluma forward to increase our revenues, fix our roads, and maintain vital services and public safety – without compromising our environment, quality of life, and historic charm. Thank you so much SCDCC for your faith and commitment to our campaign. Working together, WE WILL ensure a sustainable future for Petaluma!
"There was actually no controversy with respect to the endorsement of Jason Davies by the Sonoma County Democratic Party. He was the only candidate recommended at all three stages in our process. The interview committee, that included two Petaluma residents and a third resident of the 2nd Supervisorial District, and the subcommittee that forwarded recommendations to the Central Committee both recommended Davies. The Central Committee that actually endorses candidates accepted that recommendation. Davies also earned our endorsement in his previous run in 2010 and I am proud to have endorsed him personally early in this race." – Stephen Gale, Chair, Sonoma County Democratic Party

RE: Jason Davies for Petaluma City Council 2012 Kick-Off Event
August 21st, 2012, 5:00-8:45 PM at Lagunitas Brewing Co.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Our kick-off event at Lagunitas Brewing Company in Petaluma was a success, thanks to some great volunteers and many community members coming together for new leadership on the CIty Council. Thank you Lagunitas for your support! We started at 5:00 PM to show the Petaluma National Little League game and it made for a truly great and unifying event – especially when our boys won! We had a broad spectrum of our community and excellent music from Argentine Tango Guitarist Guillermo Garcia – plus special guest performances from Matt Moller and Rocky Rohwedder. Pizza Politana was on hand selling hand-tossed wood-fired pizza and we had excellent appetizers from Cunningham Manor Catering. Special thanks to Heidi Rhymes, Sam Boyd, and Shawn Rohwedder for your help in coordinating the event! Stay tuned for more news and upcoming events as momentum continues to build for our campaign!
